When building your list, should you be focusing on building as large a list as possible by whatever means, or building a quality list of subscribers? Well ask any email marketer and they will tell you that a quality list, regardless of size, is far more profitable than a list of freebie seekers.
Of course there are ways of monetizing a list of freebie seekers as I've demonstrated in another recent article I've written, but ultimately you should be striving to build a list of subscribers responsive to your offers, and interested in what you have to say.
Listed below are four ways you can go about building a quality list of responsive subscribers:
1. Post regularly in forums relevant to your niche.
Forums are one of the best places to attract targeted subscribers because you've effectively got your target audience all in one place. For example, if you were building a list targeting people interested in carp fishing, then a great way of attracting these people would be to post regularly in carp fishing forums. By having a link to your opt-in page in your sig file and making quality and helpful posts regularly, you can very easily build a targeted list.
2. Write articles.
This is becoming an increasingly popular way of building a quality list, but is still underused by the majority of marketers. By writing articles relevant to your niche on a regular basis and posting them to article directories and ezine publishers, you can again attract your target audience to join your list. Why? Because the people who will ultimately read your articles are obviously interested in the subject of your article, and if they want to find out more about you, will gladly click on the link to your opt-in page that you can include in the resource box.
3. Pay-per-click advertising.
Whereas the previous two methods were free, this one does involve spending some money, but nevertheless can often deliver a positive return on investment. The trick is to have an appealing one time offer that visitors see straight after they opt-in to your list. This way you can often recoup your money almost immediately, so in effect you are building your list for free. This is also one of the best ways to build a targeted list because you can choose the exact keywords you want to target, so you know that the people who opt-in are very interested in what you have to offer.
4. Build a list of buyers.
This is the ultimate list that all marketers want – a list of proven buyers. Of course this is harder to achieve because you will need to create your own product, find ways of selling this product, and then add the buyers to your customer list, where you can then promote products to in the foreseeable future. These are far and away the most responsive and profitable people you could ever have on your list, and even if you have built up a quality list using other methods, your long-term goal should still be to create products and build up your customer list.
So to conclude, don't fall in to the trap of trying to build as big a list of possible and advertising all over the internet, because you will simply be spending too much time building a low quality and untargeted list. Focus your efforts on attracting targeted and responsive subscribers by posting on relevant forums, writing articles, advertising on Google and other pay-per-click networks, and ultimately try and create your own products so you can build a highly profitable customer list for maximum profits.

How To Make Money From Freebie Hunters
I regularly visit marketing forums, and one of the most common things people complain about is not being to make enough profits from their list. They complain that the vast majority of their subscribers are simply freebie hunters, and have absolutely no intention of spending any money. So how can you make money from these freebie hunters?
Well this is a problem that affects a lot of online marketers. We're told that the money is in the list, which is absolutely true, but nevertheless it's important to remember that most people on your list will not be buyers, unless of course you've built up a list of previous customers.
If you think about it, this isn't surprising because most marketers build up their list in the first place by giving away a free report or mini-course just to get people onto their list, so straight away they are attracting freebie hunters to their list.
But even taking all this into consideration all is not lost. It's still perfectly possible to generate cash from these subscribers, without persuading them to dig out their credit card.
One of the best ways of doing this is by offering free and valuable content, but not in the actual email itself. Instead you want to direct them to a page of your website or blog where this content can be found and strategically place pay-per-click ads, such as Google Adsense, around the content so you earn money every time a visitor clicks on one of these ads. After all your list provides a great way of directing traffic to your sites, so why take advantage of this opportunity.
This way even if you have a list of say 1000 subscribers, with most of them apparently freebie hunters, by directing them to monetized pages of your site you only need them to click on ads to earn you money, which I'm sure you'll agree is easier than getting these people to buy from you.
Another way of squeezing cash from a list of freebie seekers is by sending them to pay-per-lead companies. This can be very lucrative because a lot of companies will pay you generous commissions for each visitor you send who carries out a certain activity. This could be something as simple as filling out a form, signing up for a free newsletter, or downloading a free piece of software, all of which your typical freebie hunter will be more than happy to do.
So to conclude, although we would all ideally like a large email list of proven buyers that we can profit from, even a low quality list of freebie hunters can generate profits for you if you use some of the methods outlined in this article.

Email Marketing - Write Emails That Generate Response
(by Sean Mize)
When you are writing emails, you have to develop a sense of relationship with the people to whom you are writing. Obviously, you need to use the personalization feature (automatically use the readers’ name) that comes with your autoresponder service.
But over and above that, you need to write each email as if you are writing to one person, not an entire list.
Take a look at the difference in these two intros:
Dear (subscriber name)
I am just writing this email to offer you as one of my valued subscribers an opportunity to buy this at the ‘subscriber reduced rate’.
Dear (subscriber name)
Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I have arranged a special price just for you.
Which of these is more personal? Which of these is going to get a higher clickthrough rate? And get a higher purchase rate?
In fact, even if the clickthrough rate were to end up being identical on both emails, the second email would probably have a much sales page conversion rate as the first one. Why?
Because the second email sounds personal, almost as if the price is just for that one person.
So how do you do this consistently?
You can either follow a set of rules, write with a certain mindset, or both:
Here is a set of rules to follow:
1) Use the word ‘you’ often
2) Never use words like ‘subscribers’, ‘you all’, ‘my subscribers’, my subscriber’, or any other language that would indicate you are writing to more than one person
And here is a mindset to follow:
When you are writing emails, imagine you are writing to one individual alone. Imagine a particular person. Imagine you are writing an email to a personal friend. Put a picture in your mind of one of your subscribers. If this is difficult for you, ask a personal friend to sign up to your email list, then write all your emails to this one person alone.
Using these rules and/or using this mindset will radically change the way your emails are perceived.
Although your subscribers will know they are not the only one on the list, they will really feel as though you are talking to them. At the time of this writing, I have around 6000 subscribers – and I often get emails asking if I am using an autoresponder or if I am writing to them individually. Why? Because I write my emails to one person, then send them out to everyone.

Autoresponders – An Email Marketer's Most Powerful Tool
It's common knowledge amongst internet marketers that if you want to make serious money online, you need to have your own email list of subscribers. To do this you need an autoresponder, as this will act as a complete list management solution, as I'm about to demonstrate in the remainder of this article.
An autoresponder is an invaluable tool to any webmaster who wants to make more money online. It allows you to add an opt-in form to your website or blog, so you can capture your visitors' name and email address. Once they opt-in they are automatically added to your list.
So if you offer a free bonus, mini-course or newsletter, for example, that will encourage your visitors to opt-in, you can start building a responsive list of subscribers who you can market your products to in the future (making sure you provide good content as well).
Most autoresponders make it very easy to create this opt-in form. You just customize it's look and appearance using the opt-in form generator provided, then simply copy and paste the html code into your website or blog.
So that's one benefit of an autoresponder, but that's just the beginning. A good autoresponder will also enable you to create and send as many messages to your subscribers as you want. All you do is log in to your account, write your message, and either broadcast it immediately, or schedule it to go out at a later date. You can also select individual groups of subscribers who will receive the message, which is useful for split-testing or for sending regional messages, for example.
The fact that you can schedule messages to go out at future dates also makes it very easy to create mini-courses, and if you want you could even create and schedule several months, or even years worth of messages, so your whole email marketing approach becomes completely automated.
So why choose an autoresponder and pay a small monthly fee, when you can use your own email server and handle it yourself?
Well this is another major benefit of an autoresponder because the largest and most reputable providers have very good relationships with the various email companies, which therefore means that the emails sent by the autoresponder company, and it's users, have very high delivery rates.
This is in stark contrast to self-run email servers, which have far worse delivery rates, and tends to get worse over time, as it only takes a few complaints from subscribers to get yourself blacklisted with the various email companies.
So to conclude, if you want to increase your chances of generating more profits from your websites and blogs, then you have to make full use of an autoresponder so you can follow up with your subscribers via email. This ensures that the visitors you receive are not lost forever when they leave your websites.

Can You Build A Responsive Email List In The Internet Marketing Niche?
There's no doubt that the internet marketing niche is becoming increasingly competitive all the time, with more and more people vying for the same audience. So is it possible, therefore, to build a responsive list of email subscribers in this already crowded niche?
Well it's important to remember that although many people interested in learning how to make money online are already on several different marketers' lists, there's still just as many people who are just discovering internet marketing, and therefore are not on anyone's list yet.
It's these people you want to attract to your own list because these newbies are willing to learn and in most cases are prepared to pay good money to learn how to make money online. So if you can present them with good offers, as well as good content, you can build a highly responsive and profitable email list.
So where do you find these people who want to learn about internet marketing, and who are not already on every other marketer's list?
Well a lot of people new to internet marketing tend to start out on safelists and traffic exchanges, so these are, in my opinion, the best places to start. A lot of the internet marketing gurus dismiss these out of hand arguing that the results are poor, but most of them are missing the point. Yes, you won't make much money selling products using these methods, but you can build very large lists if you promote a good lead capture page, particularly as they're full of newbies willing to learn more about internet marketing.
In addition, you should also consider advertising in the less obvious places like Craigslist and the various online groups. All of these types of places are neglected by the majority of marketers, but you can build up a good number of responsive subscribers by using these sources.
Wherever you promote your list, you should create a compelling squeeze page where you give away a quality free report or mini-course which will encourage visitors to leave their name and email address, and therefore enter your marketing funnel, where you can market to them over and over again via email and the use of an autoresponder.
So to conclude, yes you can still build a large and highly responsive list, but instead of going after the same crowd of people as every other marketer, you want to catch the newbies who are just starting to get into internet marketing, and promote your lead capture page in the places frequented by this group of people.

Successful E-mail Marketing Campaigns - Top e-mail Software
(by Richard Seng)
How Email Marketing Can Be a Productive Tool to Build Your Business.
Many people believe that marketing using -email is unresponsive and over and finished with. The truth is, marketing via e-mail is stronger than ever and alive.
E-mail Marketing is very affordable and has one of the highest ROI (return on investment). It is also a very easy and trusted way to get your brand name to your customers if you do it correctly.
Now spam has given e-mail marketing a bad name. You don’t want your e-mails to end up in the recycle bin and become unread. Here are a few tips to learn about to make sure you have a successful campaign.
1. Make it easy to unsubscribe. Legal issues require you to make present and easily seen an unsubscribe message. You have ten day to honor if a person wants to be out of your lisst. If you are worried about losing some of your circulation or readers, then give them an option to receive less e-mail from you or maybe even an option to change email addresses. They may now want there e-mail to come to a new address.
2. Send subject matter that is applicable to what they have signed up for. If you start sending information that is not related to their interest, you can expect to start getting a high increase in people opting out. Stick to the subject or you will lose the confidence of your subscribers.
3. Do not add people to your list that have not subscribed. If a person has not expressed interest in your e-mail, then don’t send them any information. This is called spam and now you become one of the least desired e-mailers. And you may also run into legal issues. Don’t do it.
Our Top email marketing software program we suggest is GroupMail 5.

Managing Your Email List - How To Get Subscribers To Open Your Emails Everytime!
(by Fabian Tan)
Email marketing is still very useful for many marketers. Many marketers use it as a way to communicate with their subscribers. What’s more, it’s all done with a click of the mouse and it doesn’t cost anything to send out. If you are an email marketer, you goal is to have your subscribers to read your email. After all, if very few of your subscribers read your emails, then your effort in writing the email is wasted.
Your email needs to stand out among the other emails in your subscriber’s inbox. Many people receive tons of emails everyday (most of them junk mail) and you need to grab their attention and make them click through to your email and read what you have to say or offer.
The most important part of your email is your subject line. It is important to use attention-grabbing words here, but don’t reveal too much of what is inside your email. You need to generate enough curiosity so that they will want to open your email to find out more. Also, don’t use spammy words like ‘free’, because your email may end in the subscriber’s spam box. Such words often fail to pass email filters because a lot of spammers use them.
You’d also want to use your personal name as the name that people see when they receive your emails. This gives your email a more personal touch. People relate better to people whom they feel they know!

Email Marketing - E-mail Techniques to Increase Sales
(by Raymond Nesa)
When a business entity makes use of the e-mail tool as a marketing strategy, it is faced with the challenge of how to capture the attention of the prospective client at the mere glance of the received e-mail. This is so important because failing to catch your reader’s attention would mean a little chance of having the content to be read. So, how can one face that challenge?
* Make a sound and impacting headline. Make sure that you give the information of why the e-mail is being sent out. If you are selling a product, inclusion of the product being sold in the subject line is better.
* Make a true-to-life story content. Anecdotal statements are always best to catch the attention of your reader. They just love to know how the offer has changed or impacted other people’s lives. So, it is best that you make the e-mail material a little lively and experiential.
* You can opt to use the leading question style as part of your content. This way, you are able to immediately impress on the reader’s mind what you are up to with the product that you are selling.
* Try to entice them with a little freebie offering. A lot of people love to just get anything. It is going to be a good experience for the recipient should he receive any promotional freebie from you.
* Include some information about you. Of course, who would ever trust a writer whose identity is concealed? Clients would like to know whom they are dealing with, at least in doing a business

If you're looking for a reliable autoresponder, newsletter and list management solution, then I can highly recommend Aweber. They have very high delivery rates, and are used by not only myself, but many of the top internet marketing gurus (I know because I'm on all of their lists).

6 Surefire Ways to Make Money From Your Email List
(by Melvin Vu)
You want to make money with every chance possible from your mailing list, from the time your visitor goes to your Lead Capture Page until he stays subscribed to your E-zine. Here are 6 surefire ways how you can make money from your list:
1) One time Offer
When your subscriber fills in the opt-in form to join your mailing list and get your free report, make sure he is taken to a One Time Offer page before downloading your free report. Your One Time Offer is a sales letter which your subscriber, now your prospect, will see, with the context that this special offer is made available to him only once. Give a quality One Time Offer to couple with a sales letter with a good conversion rate and you can cash in on your prospects immediately upon signing up!
2) Create a Viral Report
Giving something away for free (e.g. a free report of your own) allows you to prove your credibility to your subscribers and gives them an incentive for subscribing to your E-zine. In your report, you can include both your own links and affiliate links in the form of your recommendations or advertisements. Encourage your readers to give away your free report, allowing your report to reach many computers like a “virus” throughout the Internet without any effort on your part.
3) Back end Links
After your subscriber has signed up for your E-zine, he will be automatically redirected to first your One Time Offer Page and then depending on whether he purchases your One Time Offer, he will eventually be redirected to your Thank You Page where he can download your free report. In your Thank You page, you notify your subscriber that a confirmation mail will reach his Inbox soon and that he can download your free report. While waiting for the confirmation mail, your subscriber can click on any of your links that might interest him. If your subscriber is not interested in your One Time Offer, he might be interested in visiting your links to other sales letters.
4) Additional links
In every E-zine issue or emails that you send to your subscribers, ensure that you have your own resource box attached. Your resource box is where you can further add your various products or affiliate links that you want your subscribers to view or purchase.
5) Sending Endorsements
The bigger and more responsive your list is towards your E-mails, the more money you can make per endorsement E-mail sent out to your subscribers.
6) Selling Advertisement Space
Once you have achieved a minimum of 1,000 subscribers, you can consider the option of selling advertising space in your E-zine to potential advertisers. This would further add money to your pockets!

Responsive Email Marketing 101
(by Mad Vlad)
Are you new to the process of email marketing? If so, you may be unsure how to maximize the potential of each of your correspondence items. Here, we’ve addressed some of the basics of email marketing that you’ll need to consider to make your experience both lucrative and enjoyable!
Avoid Deceptive Subject Lines
Many email marketing attempts fail to produce any profits because they start off on the "wrong foot." For instance, if you’re advertising a revolutionary skin care product, don’t put "It Was Great to Meet You Last Thursday" as your subject line. Though you may have a better chance of getting through some recipients’ firewalls, they won’t appreciate your trickery and will probably press "delete".
Put All Information in the Email Body
Though you may have a fabulous .pdf or .doc file that you’d like to incorporate in your email marketing, resist the temptation to include it. Having an attachment of this sort will automatically send your email marketing attempt to "spam" files, meaning your prospects will probably never see your email at all.
Use Dynamic Language
In email marketing, as with all marketing, you want to capture your audience’s attention as quickly as possible. Because you only have a few seconds to catch a reader’s eye, be certain to use words that are active and practically "pop" off the page. Remember - if the email marketing piece doesn’t intrigue, the person will simply move on to another email.
Be Short and Sweet
Have a lot to say? Then put your lengthy information on your website, not in your email marketing text. Most adults have a very short attention span, and they don’t want to scour through an email marketing item for more than a minute or so. Include a link for the email marketing reader to click to send him or her to your webpage where more detailed information will be highlighted.
Practice Makes Perfect
Email marketing is a science, but one that’s always evolving and changing. So if you don’t get tons of "hits" the first time around, never despair! Keep trying, reaching, and exploring and you’ll soon uncover the best email marketing techniques for your product or service.
Mad Vlad cordially invites you to join a tremendously responsive and free safelist where you can build your own email marketing empire quickly and easily.
